Unfortunately due to the inconsistency of bookings dates and timings along with the high overheads on the running of a racing track league we have sadly taken the decision after all this time to cancel the league for the 19/20 season.
We organised the opening race meeting of the new track back in the late 90’s have been proud to have been involved with the running of the league and some open meetings over the last 20+ years, but lately have felt that for such a long term customer we have not been given the credit we deserve for our knowledge and expertise in organising cycle events.
We have taken a lot of the financial brunt of running the league over the years and kept it running through personal financial input to the league. It has been our reliance on the goodwill, and love of track racing, from our helpers and officials that has allowed us to have been able to run for this length of time. Over the years we have sucked up all the changes that have been asked of us by higher authorities, ie Paramedic cover, and the car parking charges. But it has been clear to us that in the light of a very few competent Track Commissaires around, any Officials for the League would have to be paid for due to where the venue is located. We juggled the figures and in reality to cover the costs based on last years figures, a youth would be paying about £17 to ride and a senior £30, which we feel is unacceptable when parking and travelling costs are put on. We’re trying to run a local track league here not a national championship.
So we’d like to end by saying that we are grateful for everyone’s support over the past 20+ years, we had and seen some laughs, tears, heartaches, but over the years we seen a lot of the youth riders pass through our races to go on to nationals, worlds and olympics and they have brought home titles and medals.
Thank you Everyone
