A Statement issued from Parkwood Community Leisure which operates Mountbatten Leisure Centre on behalf of Portsmouth City Council.
“We can confirm our continued support of Portsmouth City Council’s Environmental Health Officer who has initiated an investigation following the recent fatality during an event held at the cycle track at Mountbatten Leisure Centre.
Safety is a key priority and we take our responsibilities extremely seriously. As a result, the cycle track will remain closed to all users while the investigation takes place.”
Therefore, with immediate affect, any British Cycling coaching and recreational sessions will be suspended until further notice due to the investigation and NOT be allowed on the track at anytime.
We have communicated this as a matter of urgency to British Cycling and Regional Development Manager, Mark Adams, to ensure all coaches/clubs in the region who use the track at Mountbatten Leisure Centre are aware.
We apologise for the inconvenience this might cause to your booking and users.
